A novel transforming powder wound dressing. Lyophilised powder hydrates and aggregates irreversibly when exposed to exudate forming a micro-porous skin-like barrier. 84.8% poly-2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (pHEMA), 14.9% poly-2-hydroxypropylmethacrylate (pHPMA), and 0.3% sodium deoxycholate. Polymer spheres create a honeycomb structure.
Micro-pores create capillary forces 1: allowing oxygen transportation, managing exudate through vapour transpiration, creating decreased pressure at the wound bed. Material is non-resorbable and Sterilised by irradiation.
The Action Altrazeal® powder consists of polymer particles with inherent properties to support cellular function. Powder rapidly absorbs exudate transforming into a micro-porous skin-like barrier. Pores are too small for bacteria to penetrate. The material is non-resorbable and maintains intimate contact with the wound bed. Negative pressure at the wound bed.
